Types of Nursing Roles at Lumia Care 

Community Nurse

As a Community Nurse at Lumia Care, you will provide vital healthcare services to individuals in their own homes, supporting their independence and well-being. 

Key responsibilities: 
Deliver nursing care in private homes, aged care facilities, and disability support settings 
Administer medications, wound care, and chronic disease management 
Educate clients and families on self-care and disease prevention 
Coordinate care with GPs, allied health professionals, and community services 
Provide palliative care and support clients with complex healthcare needs  

Ideal for: RNs, ENs and EENs who enjoy autonomous, flexible work and want to build meaningful relationships with their clients. Experience in aged care, disability care, palliative care, or chronic disease management is highly valued. 

Registered Nurse (RN)

As a Registered Nurse at Lumia Care, you’ll deliver expert clinical care in a variety of settings, including aged care, disability support, and hospital placements. You will assess patient needs, administer treatments, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality outcomes.  

Key responsibilities: 
Assess and implement care plans tailored to individual needs 
Administer medications and provide wound care 
Support patients with complex health conditions and chronic illnesses 
Work in hospitals, aged care, or home settings 

 Ideal for: Nurses with a Bachelor of Nursing and AHPRA registration who thrive in dynamic, patient-focused environments. 

 

Assistant in Nursing (AIN)

If you’re looking for a rewarding hands-on role in patient care, becoming an Assistant in Nursing (AIN) at Lumia Care is a great opportunity. Working alongside Registered Nurses, you’ll assist with personal care, mobility support, and daily living tasks. 

Key responsibilities:  
Assist patients with personal hygiene, dressing, and meals 
Support mobility and social engagement 
Provide companionship and emotional support 
Observe and report changes in client health  

Ideal for: Those with a Certificate III in Individual Support (or equivalent) who are compassionate, patient, and eager to support individuals in need. 

 

Critical Care Nurse

Are you an experienced Critical Care Nurse looking for a role where you can make a real impact? At Lumia Care, we place skilled ICU and ED nurses in hospitals and critical care environments, ensuring patients receive life-saving care when they need it most. 

 Key responsibilities: 
Provide advanced life support and intensive care monitoring 
Manage critically ill patients in ICU, CCU, and ED settings 
Collaborate with doctors and allied health teams for optimal patient outcomes 
Administer emergency medications and interventions 

Ideal for: RNs with postgraduate experience in ICU, ED, or CCU, and strong decision-making skills under pressure. 

Perioperative Nurse (Theatre Nurse)

As a Perioperative Nurse, you’ll be at the forefront of surgical care, ensuring patients receive the best preoperative, intraoperative, and post-operative support. 

Key responsibilities: 
Prepare and assist during surgical procedures 
Monitor patient vitals and ensure sterile techniques 
Provide post-operative recovery care and pain management 
Work alongside surgeons and anaesthetists in operating theatres 

Ideal for: RNs with experience in perioperative nursing, theatre nursing, or recovery room care. 

 

Midwife

Do you have a passion for supporting mothers and newborns? Join Lumia Care as a Midwife, where you’ll provide holistic, patient-centred maternity care. 

Key responsibilities: 
Support women through pregnancy, birth, and postnatal care 
Provide breastfeeding and newborn care education 
Monitor maternal and foetal health during pregnancy and labour 
Work in hospitals, birthing centres, or in-home maternity care settings 

 Ideal for: AHPRA-registered Midwives with excellent communication skills and a commitment to family-centred care. 

Ward Nurse

A Ward Nurse at Lumia Care plays a vital role in general hospital care, providing essential treatment, monitoring, and patient support across various medical wards. 

Key responsibilities: 
Deliver routine and acute patient care on medical and surgical wards 
Administer medications and assist with treatment plans 
Monitor patient progress and collaborate with healthcare teams 
Provide education and emotional support to patients and families 

Ideal for: RNs looking for hospital-based roles with a strong focus on patient-centred care.  

CSSD Technician (Sterilisation Technician)

As a Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD) Technician, you’ll be responsible for the cleaning, sterilisation, and maintenance of surgical instruments to prevent infection and ensure patient safety.  

Key responsibilities: 
Sterilise, inspect, and package surgical instruments 
Operate sterilisation equipment 
Maintain compliance with infection control protocols 
Ensure surgical teams have the necessary sterile supplies 

Ideal for: Those with Certificate III or IV in Sterilisation Services who enjoy working behind the scenes to support critical healthcare services. 

Orderly / Theatre Technician

Theatre Orderlies and Technicians are essential members of the perioperative team, ensuring operating theatres run smoothly and efficiently.  

Key responsibilities: 
Prepare operating theatres before procedures 
Assist with patient positioning and transfers 
Maintain a clean and safe surgical environment 
Support nursing and surgical staff during procedures
