Lumia Care Sydney is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Support Worker to provide specialized, trauma-informed care to clients experiencing complex mental health challenges. This is a meaningful opportunity for someone with strong experience and resilience to support individuals navigating suicidal ideation and self-harming behaviors.

About the Role:

In this role, you will deliver person-centred, trauma-informed support to help clients achieve stability, safety, and improved quality of life. You’ll work closely with a broader care team while fostering trust and consistency with clients.

What we're looking for:

  • Certificate IV or Diploma in Mental Health (or relevant qualification) (mandatory)

  • Proven experience supporting individuals with suicidal ideation and self-harming behaviors

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • A calm, empathetic, and non-judgmental approach

  • Strong reliability and ability to build trust with clients

  • Valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle

  • Availability to commit to regular shifts

  • While this role is for a female support worker, we welcome male applicants to join our talent pool for future opportunities.

Role responsibilities:

  • Provide compassionate, trauma-informed support to clients with complex mental health needs

  • Support daily routines and structured activities that promote recovery and stability

  • Assist with transport to appointments and community access

  • Encourage independence, emotional resilience, and wellbeing

  • Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and escalate concerns when required

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Current First Aid Certificate

  • Police Check

  • NDIS Worker Screening Check

  • Working with Children Check

  • Full Australian work rights

  • Valid driver’s licence and reliable vehicle
