What is Supported Independent Living (SIL)?
Supported Independent Living (SIL) is an NDIS-funded service designed for people with disabilities who need help with daily tasks and personal care while working towards greater independence.
SIL provides ongoing support and supervision in a shared or individual home setting, helping residents develop life skills, confidence, and independence in a way that aligns with their abilities and goals.
SIL can include:
✔ Personal care such as showering, dressing, and grooming
✔ Help with meal preparation and household tasks like cooking and cleaning
✔ Support to develop independent living skills, including shopping and budgeting
✔ Encouragement to take part in social and community activities
While SIL funding covers the cost of support, it does not include rent, food, or other everyday living expenses. If you’re unsure whether SIL is the right option for you, our team can help you understand the NDIS process and explore suitable accommodation options.
Who is Eligible for SIL?
SIL is ideal for people who require daily support to live as independently as possible. If you need assistance with personal care, household tasks, or community participation, SIL may be included in your NDIS plan.
Your NDIS planner or support coordinator will assess your needs and determine whether SIL is the best fit. Funding is allocated based on:
