Level 3 Home Care Package

Intermediate Care for More Support

To facilitate elderly Australians in maintaining their independence at home for as long as possible, Home Care Packages offer essential support within the aged care framework. These packages encompass a range of services aimed at enhancing individuals’ quality of life, tailored to meet diverse needs. Lumia Care provides Level 3 Home Care Packages catering to intermediate care needs across Australia, particularly in Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia and ACT.

What is a Level 3 Home Care Package?

If you or a loved one is finding it harder to manage at home, a Level 3 Home Care Package provides the extra support needed to maintain independence while ensuring safety and well-being.

Designed for those with moderate care needs, this package includes more frequent assistance with personal care, home maintenance, and medical support, so you can continue living at home with comfort and confidence. Whether it’s help with medication management, allied health support, or home nursing, this package ensures you have the right level of care to keep doing the things you love.

How to Access a Home Care Package Level 3 in Australia

Securing a Home Care Package requires an evaluation by the Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT). Here’s how to secure a Home Care Package:

Assessment

Contact My Aged Care or your local provider to arrange an assessment by ACAT. This assessment will determine the level of care you require and your eligibility for a Home Care Package.

Approval

Upon meeting the criteria, you’ll receive confirmation outlining the level of care and services available to you.

Choosing a Provider

Following approval, select a home care provider. Post-approval, our team conducts a thorough assessment to grasp your preferences and requirements, ensuring the care plan is tailored exclusively for you.

What support Can I Access in Home Care Package Level 3?

A Level 3 Home Care Package offers a comprehensive range of support services tailored to meet the moderate to high care needs of older Australians. In contrast to Level 1 and Level 2 packages, Level 3 provides more extensive assistance across various aspects, including personal care, medical care, specialised equipment, social support, transportation assistance, and respite care. This heightened level of support enables individuals to receive more intensive care catering to individuals with complex health conditions and higher care requirements.

While Level 3 packages provide comprehensive support, they are generally less intensive compared to Level 4 Home Care Packages. Recipients may require regular assistance with daily tasks, health monitoring, and social engagement, but may not need the same level of clinical intervention as those with Level 4.

How Many Hours of Care Will I Receive?

A Level 3 Home Care Package typically provides around 8 hours of support per week, allowing for a higher level of assistance and more frequent care services.

How Much Funding is Available?

A Level 3 Home Care Package provides approximately $40,530 per year in government funding, giving you access to more frequent support with personal care, home maintenance, and medical assistance to help you stay safe and comfortable at home.

Government funding amounts are reviewed every year on 1 July, so your package allocation may change over time.

Understanding Home Care Package Costs

We know that when you need more support, the last thing you want to worry about is unexpected costs. While the government funds most of your Home Care Package, some people may be asked to contribute based on their income.

If you earn above a certain threshold, you may be required to pay an income-tested care fee.

Some providers take a large cut in fees, which means less of your budget goes towards actual care.
